CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
Our East coast National Association of Women Artists-Florida Chapter scholarship Committee was proud to celebrate Vintage Demosthene Paul and Legacy Northcutt as our two outstanding 2026 recipients. Both are from high schools in Broward County and will be attending art studies in the fall.
At a special luncheon honoring their achievements, eighteen attendees, including NAWAFL members, family, friends, and supporters gathered to recognize and hear the art journeys of these two remarkable young artists.
Both recipients shared their artwork and spoke briefly about their artistic journeys and future study plans. Although their personalities and artistic voices were different, each impressed the audience with her talent, dedication, and creative vision.
Vintage, who plans to attend college in Central Florida, proudly shared her cultural heritage through her attire, and brought family members who joined in celebrating her accomplishments. Legacy, who will be attending Pratt Institute, spoke about the personal and social themes that inspire her work and her commitment to using art as a means of expression. Both students through their talent, character, and passion for the arts reaffirmed the committee's confidence in its selections.
During the luncheon, committee members expressed their hope of maintaining a connection with both young artists as they continue their educational and creative journeys. Vintage and Legacy enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to remain part of the extended NAWAFL family.
The event concluded with heartfelt thanks from the recipients and their families, who expressed their appreciation for the encouragement, recognition, and financial support provided by NAWAFL. It was a memorable afternoon celebrating not only artistic achievement, but also the bright futures that lie ahead for these two exceptional young artists.
2026 SCHOLARSHIP
The Florida Chapter of the National Association of Women Artists, Inc., nawafl.org, fosters and promotes awareness of and interest in visual art created by women in the United States. We strive to encourage contemporary and emerging artists through exhibitions of NAWA members, educational programs, and scholarships to honor and continue women's long and vital contributions to the history of American culture and art.
Eligibility: Any female student who will be graduating from a Florida High School. The candidate must be attending college in the fall of 2026 as a new or returning student majoring in Fine Arts.
Application: Please visit www.nawafl.org to download the complete application package. The completed application, including essays, images, and recommendations, can be emailed or mailed to the Scholarship Chair, whose address is listed on the application.

Scholarship Process: The NAWAFL Scholarship committee will review and evaluate all applications and select two recipients. Recipients will be notified both by mail and email. Upon acceptance to college, scholarship winners are responsible for notifying the NAWAFL Committee Chairperson of their school's acceptance. 3. Essay: Please write 3-4 paragraphs telling us why you make art, explaining your goals. Discuss your art background and process, the reasons you have chosen to pursue a degree in Fine Arts, and why you think you should be chosen as a recipient of this scholarship.
4. Letter of Recommendation: Please submit one letter of recommendation from an art instructor who knows your work well. Please include the instructor’s contact information.
